Introduction:
Terraria is a 2-D Minecraft-like metroidvania platformer. Before you dive in, bookmark

wiki.terrariaonline.com

and

terraria.wikia.com

. Both are immensely helpful resources for everything about Terraria.

Note that I'm playing this game in single player only, so most achievement descriptions and the estimated difficulty will reflect that. You will have a much easier time with the game with friends for the harder achievements. Also note that the approximate time to completion is a very conservative estimate. A lot of farming and mining is required for A Knight in Shining Armors (40G), Corruptible (25G)and Hallowed Be Thy Name (25G). Depending on if you're playing single or multiplayer, your mileage may vary quite a bit.

Tutorial:
When you fire up Terraria, start with the Tutorial to get Terraria Student (5G)and Terraria Expert (5G). You will learn the controls, build a house, and be given a bit of general direction in what to do once you start your own world.

Make a Character & World:
Once you're done with that, select Play Game and make a character. Since difficulty doesn't matter for achievements, just go with Normal. Now the game will want you to create a world. Choose whether or not you want to play online and/or invite only (you can change these whenever you load up your world), and then select a world size. Here are the differences:

  • Small - All biomes are smaller and closer together, including the Underworld. Ore deposits are condensed and therefore easier to find. Floating islands are closer to the surface.
  • Medium - Biome sizes strike a balance between small and large worlds, obviously. More ore, chests, pots, floating islands, Demon Altars (for spawning hardmode ore), and Shadow Orbs.
  • Large - Biomes are larger, and are more spread out. There is more ore, but it is less condensed. Even more chests and pots, more Shadow Orbs, more floating islands, and more Demon Altars than Medium.

If you're mostly playing online with friends, go with a large world. Otherwise, medium and small worlds are fine for single player. There is enough ore and resources for you to do everything, regardless of world size, and you can always create new worlds and raid them for resources to bring back to your main world if you want.

Starting Out:
Some tips for starting out:

  • Always have your weapon, pickaxe, axe, and hammer on the Inventory Bar at the top.
  • Make plenty of torches and wooden platforms, and always have a full stack of each for your excursions.
  • Always have healing potions and hotfix them to the D-Pad.
  • Place torches everywhere. Not only do they light up your world, they also serve as markers to show where you've been.
  • Pick up and hoard everything you find. Flowers, mushrooms, seeds, cobwebs-everything has a use.
  • Break all pots you encounter, loot everything in chests, and use a hammer to pick up empty chests so you can use them for storage at your base without having to craft your own.
  • Don't worry about dying and losing money. You won't need it for much early in the game, and Hardmode will give you plenty of it.
  • Always make better pickaxes before anything else. After that, upgrade your armor and other tools. There are plenty of nice weapons to find in chests, so crafting them isn't a priority.
  • Use your map while digging to locate ore and chests that you may not be able to see otherwise.
  • There is a handy Housing feature located in the menu that, among other options, can help you determine if your houses are livable for NPCs (walk into your house first before opening the menu).

Normal Mode:
Terraria is roughly split between two parts. The first half is considered Normal Mode, and you will unlock most of these achievements without much effort as you progress:

  • Survivor (25G)
  • Home Sweet Home (50G)
  • Vanity of Vanities (15G)
  • Red Moon Rises (25G)
  • Crowd Control (40G)
  • Rock Bottom (25G)
  • Icarus (25G)
  • Engineer (25G)
  • Maxed Out (40G)
  • To Hell and Back (40G)
  • Be Prepared (40G)
  • Challenge Accepted (25G)

These achievements will be earned through natural progression and no extra effort on your part. They will most likely unlock during Normal Mode:

  • Landscaper (40G)
  • Airtime! (25G)
  • Marathon Runner (50G)

These are the NPCs you can have at this point. It's okay if you don't have all of them yet, they will always be available:

  • Guide
  • Merchant
  • Nurse
  • Demolitionist
  • Arms Dealer
  • Dryad
  • Clothier
  • Goblin Tinkerer
  • Mechanic

These are the bosses you will want to kill in Normal Mode:

  • Slime King
  • Eye of Cthulhu
  • Destroyer of Worlds
  • Skeletron
  • Wall of Flesh

These are the gear sets you can have at this point. Note that it may be easier to get some of these once you get into Hardmode and have access to drills.

  • Mining Armor
  • Copper Armor
  • Iron Armor
  • Silver Armor
  • Gold Armor
  • Meteor Armor
  • Jungle Armor
  • Necro Armor
  • Shadow Armor
  • Molten Armor

Hardmode:
Once you unlock Challenge Accepted (25G), you will now be in Hardmode and unlock these achievements:

  • All in the Family (25G)
  • Slimer (25G)
  • Crafty (50G)
  • Ophthalmologist (40G)
  • Ride the Worm (40G)
  • Bona Fide (40G)
  • Exterminator (75G)
  • Blacksmith (40G)
  • A Knight in Shining Armors (40G)

These are the NPCs you will encounter only in Hardmode to finish up All in the Family (25G):

  • Wizard

These are the bosses you will kill to finish up Exterminator (75G):

  • The Twins
  • Devourer of Worlds
  • Skeletron Prime
  • Ocram

These are the armor sets you will have to craft to finish up A Knight in Shining Armors (40G):

  • Cobalt Armor
  • Mythril Armor
  • Adamantite Armor
  • Hallowed Armor
  • Dragon Armor
  • Spectral Armor
  • Titan Armor

These achievements will be time-consuming and take a lot of effort to complete. It might be best to create new small worlds and "prune" them for easier spreading of Corruption and Hallow:

  • Corruptible (25G)
  • Hallowed Be Thy Name (25G)

I'm Smelting! (50G)will take extra effort to unlock, even after crafting everything. See the achievement list for details.

Pet Hoarder (25G)at the moment is currently the hardest achievement to unlock in single player, based on the absurd rarity of Honeycombs and Wolf Fangs. Save your sanity and trade for them online.

    The Guide has moved in!

Build a house for your guide and have him move in. A house is considered livable if it is at least 6 blocks tall and 10 blocks wide, with a table, chair, door, lighting, and walls. Crafting tables work too. Once the criteria are met, he will move in on his own.

    All in the Family

    25

    Every NPC has moved in!

Most NPCs will appear once you meet certain criteria, which I've described below. You must house all of them to get the achievement.

Note:In addition to meeting the requirements below, there must be an available, valid house in order for any NPC to spawn.

    • Guide - The first NPC you'll meet, spawns when you start a new world.
    • Merchant - Spawns when you acquire 50 Silver Coins total, in single or multiplayer.
    • Nurse- Spawns when you use your first Crystal Heart.
    • Demolitionist- Spawns when you acquire an explosive (Bombs, Grenades, and Dynamite) and have a Merchant NPC. Explosives are commonly found in chests and pots.
    • Dryad- Spawns when you have beaten a boss. King Slime doesn't count.
    • Arms Dealer- Spawns when you have acquired a gun or bullets. Bullets and guns are initially found in Shadow Orbsor Crimson Hearts.
    • Clothier- Spawns once you kill Skeletron.
    • Mechanic- Found in the Dungeon. You must talk to her to free her. She won't walk back to a house on her own, so you can either wait until she dies and respawns at your village (most likely to happen) or assign her to a house manually.
    • Goblin Tinkerer- Found in the Cavern layer after defeating a Goblin Invasion. You must talk to him to free him. He won't walk back to a house on his own, so you can either wait until he dies and respawns at your village or assign him to a house manually.
    • Wizard- Found in Hardmode in the Cavern layer. You must talk to him to free him. He won't walk back to a house on his own, so you can either wait until he dies and respawns at your village or assign him to a house manually.
    • Dye Trader - Spawns once the player has any item used to make dye, or dye itself.
    • Painter - Spawns once you have three other NPCs.
    • Party Girl - Has a 2% chance to spawn each dawn once you have 8 or more NPCs.
    • Witch Doctor - Spawns after defeating the Queen Bee.
    • Pirate - Spawns after defeating the Pirate Invasion.
    • Truffle - Spawns if there is an available house in a surface mushroom biome (you must manually create one) in Hardmode.
    • Steampunker - Spawns after defeating one Hardmode Boss.
    • Cyborg - Spawns after defeating Plantera.

    Note:You don't needSanta Claus.

  • Terraria Achievement Guide & Road Map (8)

    Rock Bottom

    25

You have reached the bottom of the World!

The bottom of the world is called the Underworld, filled with lava and annoying monsters. The achievement unlocks when you reach the absolute lowest point of the map. Once you get to the Underworld, you can either dig your way down through the ash, or find an empty gap. Don't worry, you won't fall off the world.

It's best to wait until you're ready to mine Hellstone before doing this. The fastest way to get down there is to find a nice place near your spawn point (I always use my basement), point your cursor directly below you, and start digging. You'll automatically dig out a three block wide tunnel, which you can then use for quick access to the Underworld. A Diving Helmet, Diving Gear, or Gills Potion can be very handy when you encounter pockets of water. You can then either just wait until you get to the Underworld to let the water drain out (hopefully on lava), or dig out additional pockets off to the side of the tunnel for the water to drain into.

  • Terraria Achievement Guide & Road Map (9)

    Exterminator

    75

    You have defeated every boss!

    (5)

Most all bosses are fought by summoning them through crafted items and at specific times during the day. They are listed below in a general order of weakest to hardest. For some bosses in single player, if you die during the fight, you'll have to resummon and start over. Same goes for multiplayer if everyone dies at the same time and the boss has no one in its immediate vicinity to attack. Other bosses will not reset and will most likely meet up with you at your spawn point when you die, allowing you to respawn and resume your attack. Most bosses also have a time limit, requiring you to fight quickly and efficiently before you run out of time.

    • King Slime - Spawns very rarely during daytime in Forests that are not in the center third of the map (so basically they can't spawn around your spawn point). Can also be summoned with a Slime Crown, crafted from a Gold Crown and 99 Gel at a Demon Altar or Crimson Altar. Can be summoned at anytime, anywhere (space permitted), and with no time limit. Super easy and not really considered a boss by most, but still counts.King Slime Strategies.
    • Eye of Cthulhu - Has a chance of spawning at night once the player has at least 200 health, at least 10 Defense, and has 3 or more NPCs housed, but only once. Can also be summoned anywhere by using a Suspicious Looking Eye at night, crafted from 6 Lens at a Demon Altar or Crimson Altar. Will despawn if you die, and must be killed before sunrise.Eye of Cthulhu Strategies.
    • Eater of Worlds - Summoned by either smashing 3 Shadow Orbs, or using Worm Food, which is crafted from 30 Vile Powder and 15 Rotten Chunks at a Demon Altar. Can only be summoned and must be fought in the Corruption. Will despawn if you die, but has no time limit. Be careful that you don't move out of the Corruption or it will despawn.Eater of Worlds Strategies.
    • Skeletron - Summoned by speaking to the Old Man at the Dungeon entrance at night. Will despawn if you die. If you can't kill it before sunrise, he will insta-kill you.Skeletron can be summoned again once defeated by Killing the Clothier with a Clothier Voodoo Doll in one of your equipment slots.Skeletron Strategies.
    • Wall of Flesh - The last and toughest of the Normal bosses. Summoned by dropping a Guide Voodoo Doll into a pool of lava in the Underworld. Once you throw your doll into the lava, your Guide will be sacrificed and you will receive the Horrified debuff, which keeps you close to the Wall of Flesh and will pull other players to it when they move too far. Basically, this debuff locks all players into the fight until they or the Wall of Flesh die. The boss is a literal wall that will push you through your entire world until it gets to the end, which will then crush and kill you automatically if you're still alive. When messing around in the Underworld, you must be careful that you don't let a Voodoo Demon drop the Guide Voodoo Doll into lava upon death, or else it will summon the Wall of Flesh.Wall of Flesh Strategies.
    • The Destroyer - A Hardmode-only boss that is summoned anywhere at night by using a Mechanical Worm at night, crafted from 7 Souls of Night, 6 Rotten Chunksor Vertebrae, and 5 Iron Bars or Lead Bars at a Mythril Anvil orOrichalcum Anvil. Must be defeated before sunrise or else it will despawn. Does not despawn when you are killed.Destroyer Strategies.
    • The Twins - A Hardmode-only boss that is summoned anywhere by using a Mechanical Eye at night, crafted from 3 Lens, 5 Iron or Lead Bars, and 7 Souls of Lightat either a Mythril or Orichalcum Anvil. Must be defeated before sunrise or else it will despawn. Does not despawn when you are killed.Twins Strategies.
    • Skeletron Prime - A Hardmode-only boss that is summoned anywhere by using a Mechanical Skull at night, crafted from 30 Bones, 5 Iron or Lead Bars, 5 Souls of Light, and 5 Souls of Nightat either a Mythril or Orichalcum Anvil.Dying will cause it to despawn. If you haven't killed him by sunrise, he will go into "Godmode" and begin to insta-kill you if you stand still. He will also increase his defense, only taking 1 damage from regular hits and 2 from criticals.Skeletron Prime Strategies.
    • Ocram - The console-exclusive boss that is summoned by using a Suspicious Looking Skull, crafted from 1 Mechanical Skull, 2 Mechanical Eyes, 20 Adamantite Bars, 10 Souls of Light, and 10 Souls of Night. Can only be summoned at night.
    • Plantera - Plantera is summoned by destroying a Plantera's Bulb in the underground jungle after first defeating any other Hardmode boss. There is no time limit for the fight. Plantera will despawn if you are killed. If brought out of the underground jungle, Plantera will become enraged. This causes it to gain significantly more damage and movement speed, and will attempt to remain directly on top of the player, causing constant damage.Plantera Strategies.
    • Golem - The Golem is summoned by using a Lihzahrd Power Cell at the Lihzahrd Altar in the Jungle Temple. In order to access the Jungle Temple, you must first defeat Plantera to obtain the Temple Key. Golem has two phases. During the first phase, the pieces you can attack are his fists and his head. Once his fists are destroyed he can not shoot them at you, which is recommended before you begin the second phase. After you destroy his head, the second phase begins, and all parts of his body will be vulnerable. The body jumps around a lot more during this phase, and the head will remain in battle, flying above the body shooting fireballs and lasers, but can't be harmed.Golem Strategies.

    Slimer

    25

You have killed every type of slime!

    (3)

Slimes are everywhere in Terraria, and there are many varieties. Most all slimes will be encountered through natural progression of the game, so you should never worry about hunting for a specific one save for Pinky or Rainbow Slime if you're unlucky.

    • Green Slime- Spawn in Forests.
    • Blue Slime- Found in the Forest Underground.
    • Red Slime- Found in the Underground layer.
    • Purple Slime- Found in Forests.
    • Yellow Slime- Found in the Underground layer.
    • Black Slime- Found in the Cavern layer.
    • Mother Slime- Black-colored and larger. Found in the Cavern layer. Spawns 2 to 3 Baby Slimes on death.
    • Baby Slime- Spawns when a Mother Slime is killed. The same color as a Mother Slime, but smaller.
    • Pinky- A rare slime that spawns in Forests and the Underground layer. Smaller and tougher than other slimes listed above.
    • Jungle Slime- Found in the Jungle. Green-colored.
    • Lava Slime- Glowing orange slime found in the Underworld.
    • Dungeon Slime- Somewhat uncommon indigo-colored slime found in the Dungeon.
    • King Slime- A very large blue-colored slime. Considered a boss. It can spawn very rarely in Forests that are not in the center third of the map (so basically they can't spawn around your spawn point). It's easier to just summon one by using a Slime Crown, crafted from a Gold Crown and 99 Gel at a Demon Altar or Crimson Altar.
    • Corrupt Slime- Found only in Hardmode in the Corruption and Underground Corruption. Dark blue-colored and spawns three Slimelings upon death.
    • Slimeling- Found only in Hardmode. Spawns when a Corrupt Slime is killed. Same color as a Corrupt Slime, only smaller.
    • Shadow Slime- Found only in Hardmode in the Corruption and Underground Corruption. Same color as the Corrupt Slime, but smaller. Console-exclusive.
    • Slimer- A winged flying slime found only in Hardmode in the Corruption and Underground Corruption. Dark blue-colored. Has two "forms": flight form and normal. You first kill its wings, then you can kill the slime completely.
    • Toxic Sludge- Found only in Hardmode in the Underground layer. Green-colored with a happy face.
    • Illuminant Slime- Found only in Hardmode in the Underground Hallow. Bright glowing purple-colored slime.
    • Ice Slime - Spawns in Snow Biomes. Blueish-white in color.
    • Spiked Ice Slime - Spawns in Underground Snow Biomes. Blueish-white in color, with protruding spikes.
    • Umbrella Slime - Spawns when its raining. Blue with an umbrella hat.
    • Spiked Jungle Slime - Spawns in Underground Jungle Biome. Green with protruding spikes.
    • Crimslime - Spawns in Crimson Biomes during Hardmode. Red in color.
    • Rainbow Slime - Spawns during rain in Hallow Biome or during a Blizzard in a Hallowed Snow Biome. White in color.

    Challenge Accepted

    25

    You have unlocked Hard Mode!

    (4)

To unlock Hard Mode, you must kill the Wall of Flesh. More details about this boss are described in Exterminator (75G).

    Maxed Out

    40

You have the maximum health and mana!

    (1)

While you're out digging through the world and doing your thing, you'll occasionally find red stone hearts called Crystal Hearts. Breaking them with a hammer will drop a Life Crystal, which will increase your maximum life by 20. The maximum amount of health is 400, or 20 hearts. These are most commonly found in the Dungeon and Underworld. You'll max out your health fairly quickly once you reach the Underworld.

For mana, you'll need to gather Fallen Stars, which naturally spawn at night on the surface. Collect 10 Fallen Stars and combine them to create a Mana Crystal, which you can then use to increase your maximum mana by 20. The maximum amount of mana is 200, or 10 stars. At night, Fallen Stars are plentiful, and if you set aside each night to collect them you'll quickly max out your mana.

  • Terraria Achievement Guide & Road Map (13)

    Corruptible

    25

    Your World is Corrupt!

    (6)

The Corruption a term given to the two types of "corrupt" biomes in the game, Corruption and Crimson. The Corruption is characterized by purple landscape and trees, large chasms that reach down to caves full of Demon Altars and Shadow Orbs, and the spawning of corruption mobs such as Eaters and Devourers. The Crimson is characterized by red landscape and trees, large caves that lead down to caverns full of Crimson Altars and Crimson Hearts, and the spawning of Crimson mobs such as Crimera and Face Monsters. Both corruption biomes have the ability to grow and spread, either naturally or artificially.

When starting out, Corruption spread is slow and outright stopped by certain blocks, most notably stone and sand. However, once Hardmode is unlocked, Corruption will spread faster and convert stone and sand into Ebonstone Blocks and Ebonstone Sand,or Crimstone Blocks and Crimsand, depending on your worlds particular type of corruption. The game will also generate a new type of Corruption biome called Underground Corruption(or Underground Crimson)that extends diagonally from the center of the Underworld to the surface.

In order for the achievement to unlock, you must get at least 50% coverage. The Dryad NPC will track this for you, and sells Corrupt Seeds(or Crimson Seeds)during a Blood Moon to help spread Corruption on the surface. However, Unholy Water, crafted from 1 Corrupt Seeds, 1 Bottled Water, and 1 Ebonsand Block, will be your primary tool in spreading Corruption.

There are three main ways to get this achievement. They are listed below from easiest to hardest.

    Method 1:
Buy a Clentaminator from the Steampunker NPC. The Clentaminator is a tool that uses different color solutions to change the landscape it is fired at into a different biome. It is rather expensive, ringing up at 2 platinum coins, but it will make getting both this achievement and the "Hallowed Be Thy Name" achievement significantly easier. Also make sure to buy plenty of either Red or Purple Solution (which is sold by the Steampunker NPC during a Blood Moon), as this is the ammo used by the Clentaminator to spread either the Crimson or Corruption respectively.

Once this is done, exit out of your world and start up a new world. Make sure that this world's size is set to small, as this will make it go the quickest. Once in the world, simply fly around while shooting all the terrain with the Clentaminator. This will change all of the land to the corrupt biome you chose. Once you reach 51% corruption, the achievement should unlock. It might make it easier to quickly defeat one of the bosses and build a house to get the Dryad NPC, as she can tell you how much of your world is corrupt.

    Method 2:
The second method can only be used in a world that contains the Corruption, and not the Crimson. If your world contains Corruption, you can craft an item called Unholy Water using a Bottled Water, a Corrupt Seed, and an Ebonsand Block. Unholy Water is a consumable projectile weapon that when hitting the ground, turns a large area into Corruption.

Another way to get the achievement is to craft a large amount of Unholy Water. Once this is done, load up a small sized world, and fly around throwing the Unholy Waters on every bit of ground. This will transform the ground into corruption. Again, it may be helpful to kill one boss and build a house to get the Dryad NPC, in order to know how much of your world is corrupt. If you can not get to 51%, kill the Wall of Flesh to put the world into Hardmode. In Hardmode, the corruption spreads significantly faster.

Once in hardmode, go back to the surface and make sure to change the recently spawned Hallow biome back into corruption. After this is done, simply AFK for some time to allow the corruption to spread. The achievement should unlock once you reach 51% corruption.

    Method 3:
This methods is probably the most time consuming of the three, however it involves not crafting of items, and only a relatively small amount of mining.

Corrupt blocks, such as Ebonstone, Ebonsand, or Crimstone and Crimsand, can spread corruption to blocks near it, although rather slowly.

First, go and mine a bunch of corrupt blocks, at least one stack. Once this is done, load up a new small world. Immediately go down to the underworld and defeat the Wall of Flesh. Once this is done, go back up to the surface and surround the Hallow in Corrupt blocks, this will hopefully spread the corruption to the blocks surrounding the Hallow and stop it from spreading. Then take your remaining blocks and spread them all over the world. Once this is done, you will have to wait quite awhile for the corruption to spread enough to get the achievement.

  • Terraria Achievement Guide & Road Map (14)

    Hallowed Be Thy Name

    25

    Your World is Hallowed!

    (8)

The Hallow is the opposite of the Corruption, generated upon unlocking Hardmode, and features bright and colorful trees and enemies. It spawns diagonally from the center of the Underworld to the surface once the Wall of Flesh is killed. The underground portion of the Hallow is called the Underground Hallow, which mirrors the Underground Corruption in a V-shape. Much like Corruption, it will spread through stone and sand and convert them into Pearlstone Blocks and Pearlsand Blocks.

In order for the achievement to unlock, you must get at least 50% coverage. The Dryad NPC will track this for you, and sells Hallowed Seeds once the Wall of Flesh is killed. Using those seeds to make Holy Water is better for spreading the Hallow than planting them. Holy Water requires 5 Pixie Dust, 1 Bottled Water, and 1 Hallowed Seeds.

There are 3 alternative ways to get the achievements. They are listed below from easiest to hardest.

    Method 1:
Buy a Clentaminator from the Steampunker NPC. The Clentaminator is a tool that uses different color solutions to change the landscape it is fired at into a different biome. It is rather expensive, ringing up at 2 platinum coins, but it will make getting both this achievement and the "Corruptible" achievement significantly easier. Also, make sure to buy plenty of Blue Solution (which is sold by the Steampunker NPC when she is in a Hallow Biome), as this is the ammo used by the Clentaminator to spread the Hallow.

Once this is done, exit out of your world and start up a new world. Make sure that this world's size is set to small, as this will make it go the quickest. Once in the world, simply fly around while shooting all the terrain with the Clentaminator. This will change all of the land to the Hallow. Once you reach 51% Hallow, the achievement should unlock. It might make it easier to quickly defeat one of the bosses and build a house to get the Dryad NPC, as she can tell you how much of your world is Hallowed.

    Method 2:
Another way to get the achievement is to craft a large amount of Holy Water, which is crafted using 5 Pixie Dust, 1 Bottled Water, and 1 Hallowed Seed. Once this is done, load up a small sized world, and fly around throwing the Holy Waters on every bit of ground. This will transform the ground into Hallow. Again, it may be helpful to kill one boss and build a house to get the Dryad NPC, in order to know how much of your world is hallowed. If you can not get to 51%, kill the Wall of Flesh to put the world into Hardmode. In Hardmode, the Hallow spreads significantly faster.

Once in hardmode, go back to the surface and make sure to change the recently spawned Corruption biome back into Hallow. After this is done, simply AFK for some time to allow the Hallow to spread. The achievement should unlock once you reach 51% Hallow.

    Method 3:
This methods is probably the most time consuming of the three, however it involves not crafting of items, and only a relatively small amount of mining.Hallowed blocks, such as Pearlsand and Pearlstone can spread Hallow to blocks near it, although rather slowly.

First, go and mine a bunch of Hallowed blocks, at least one stack. Once this is done, load up a new small world. Immediately go down to the underworld and defeat the Wall of Flesh. Once this is done, go back up to the surface and surround the Corruption in Hallowed blocks, this will hopefully spread the Hallow to the blocks surrounding the Corruption and stop it from spreading. Then take your remaining blocks and spread them all over the world. Once this is done, you will have to wait quite awhile for the Hallow to spread enough to get the achievement.

You will get it naturally as you're doing everything else.

    Crowd Control

    40

You have defeated the Goblin Army!

There are two ways to summon a Goblin Army. The first method is to use a Goblin Battle Standard, crafted from 10 Tattered Cloth and 5 Wood at a Loom. Tattered Cloth is a drop from Goblin Scouts, rare mobs that spawn on the surface during the day away from the center 3rd of the map (so basically they can't spawn around your spawn point).

The second method is to have a player with at least 200 life and have smashed at least one Shadow Orb. When you meet those criteria, you will have a 1 in 15 chance of a Goblin Army spawning at dawn. You will know when one is happening when the message "A Goblin Army is approaching from the [east/west]!" appears.

The Goblin Army will gather at your house or at the spawn point if you don't have a house. You will have to kill 120 goblins in single player. In multiplayer, it is 80 goblins plus 40 per player that has at least 200 life. They attack in waves, and the achievement will unlock and you'll get the message "A Goblin Army has been defeated!" once you've killed off all but the last wave. You can die and respawn as much as you want until you've killed the required amount.

    Icarus

    25

You can only go down from here!

This will unlock once you've reached the very top of the world. You'll know you're close when you see stars and gravity weakens. You can also check your map.

There are a few ways to do this. Using a Gravitation Potion is the easiest. You can also get there by making a "dirt pillar", manually pointing the cursor below you and jumping straight up, while placing blocks below you as you're in the air. Because of Harpies, it is best to wait until you have a Grappling Hook so you can recover quickly after getting attacked.

    Pet Hoarder

    25

    You seem to like pets.

    (14)

There are certain items in the game that summon pets when used. This achievement is earned by finding and using all the pet summoning items in the game. They are found randomly in chests, and some are dropped by certain mobs. The quickest way to get this achievement is to head over to THIS THREAD and make friends.

Listed below are they ways to get each pet summoning item. Please note that "chests" refers to normal wood chests. If you want to find them all in single player, the best advice I can give is to open every chest you find. Be Prepared

    40

    You are ready for battle!

Buffs are temporary enhancements such as increased armor and health regeneration. Potions are the best source of buffs. Chug five different potions at once to get this achievement. Buffs are super useful for Hardmode bosses, so you'll probably get it when you're prepping for one.

    Blacksmith

    40

    You are a master smith!

    (1)

Anvils are used to make weapons, armor, and tools. The achievement should unlock with natural progression, usually around the time you're making multiple sets of armor and Crystal Bullets for the endgame. If you want it earlier, craft Copper stuff since it's abundant and has little use once you're out of the early stages of the game. Copper Broadswords only require 8 Copper Bars a piece.

  • Terraria Achievement Guide & Road Map (28)

    I'm Smelting!

    50

You have smelted 10,000 bars of metal!

A forge is required to smelt metal. You upgrade your forge twice throughout the game as you acquire rarer ores. Don't try to get this one ASAP; wait until Hardmode when you get drills to make digging and mining ores much quicker. The game will keep track of how many bars you've crafted in the leaderboards menu, but only if you play online.

Strategy:First, turn off autosave in the options menu. Then load up your game and stockpile as much lower tier ore as you care to farm (Copper and Iron work best). Save your game, smelt all of it, reload, and repeat until the achievement unlocks. Thanks toMikekipsfor the tip.

    A Knight in Shining Armors

    40

You have obtained every type of armor.

    (14)

There's lots of armor throughout the game, with the best armor also being the most time-consuming to obtain, requiring multiple sets of Hardmode armor. Hardmode armor includes three different types of helmets for each set as well, and you'll need to craft them all for use as materials for the best armor.

This achievement is finicky and may not unlock once you've collected everything. Shuffling your armor around in chests and in your inventory or dropping it and picking it back up should cause it to unlock.

    • Mining Armor (Mining Helmet, Mining Shirt, and Mining Pants) - You buy the Mining Helmet from the Merchant for 8 gold. The shirt and pants are rare drops from the Undead Miner and Vampire Miner, zombie-type mobs found in the Cavern layer. Depending on luck, this may be the last set you complete. These already rare mobs are even more scarce once you unlock Hardmode, so make a new world instead when you plan on farming them.

    Note:TheWizard Hatdoes not count.

StrategyforMining Armor: Dig down to the lowest part of the Cavern layer (just above the Underworld) and find a good-sized natural cavern that extends horizontally a few screens. Skeletons spawn at an increased rate at this level, which increases your chance of getting an Undead or Vampire Miner. Fill in any other empty pockets around your main cavern to prevent enemies from spawning there. Cover up any lava pools. Now stand in the middle and wait for enemies to come to you. Using a Battle Potion and Blue Candle is recommended, but not necessary. This method also works for getting aPinkyto spawn.

Strategiesfor farming materials: Souls aren't rare, but you need plenty of them for the boss summoning items and Hardmode armor. Here's a linkto the method I used for Souls of Light/Night.

I never had enoughLenswhen I needed them for The Twins, so here's a magnificent video for farming them:

Note:Create your Lens farm in Normal Mode.

For this event to occur, one player must have at least 120 life. You will then have a 1 in 9 chance every night for a Blood Moon, except on nights when there is a new moon.

In Normal Mode, a Blood Moon will cause enemy spawn rates to increase, and give Zombies the ability to open doors. If you're just starting out and your house is getting overwhelmed, you can barricade your doors with dirt or other blocks to keep the Zombies out. The achievement will unlock once you survive until morning.

You have gone to The Underworld and back without dying!

I recommend building a tunnel straight down to the Underworld for quick access, as described in the Rock Bottom achievement. Then all you have to do is climb back up to the surface (through Hookshots, Wooden Platforms, etc.) and it will unlock. You don't need to go all the way down; when you reach the lava veins background, you've gone down far enough.
